Hi, I’m David Dilley and I am excited you have decided to visit “Seeking The Things Above” website.
In Colossians 3:1-3, Paul gave a powerful exhortation to set our focus on the things above, coming before the throne where Christ is seated at the Father’s right hand. He called us to orient our thinking, our desires, our minds on the things above in the eternal spiritual realm, not on the temporary physical realm. The One who rescued us from the domain of darkness, provided us a place in the kingdom of His Son and invited us to sit with Christ in heavenly places is the very source of our hope.
What is truth?
Reading in 18th chapter of John’s gospel, Pilate learned that Jesus is a King over a kingdom not of this world. Jesus spoke to Pilate:
Jesus Said, “For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
And Pilate answered, “What is Truth?”
Sound familiar? The world has moved to a perceived relative truth which is in fact no truth at all. The idea of a sovereign God who defines truth, embodies truth is being attacked. Evangelical Christian doctrines are being declared evil. We are seemingly the reflection of pagan nations or rebellious Israel chasing after false gods, worshiping idols of their own making in complete disregard for the provisions of the One who created all things. It is again a time where everyone is doing what is right in their own eyes.
Purpose
The purpose of this website it to encourage believers in their relationship with God, being challenged to fix our eyes on the author and perfector of our faith, to walk in His ways as an imitator that the Truth might shine forth in the darkness. Additionally, we need to understand what it is we believe, being equipped to stand firm against the spiritual forces arrayed against us, and to bring truth into a deceived and dying world. We cannot stand by apathetic to what is occurring even as our Lord was bold in declaring that He is “the way, the truth, and the life.” We are his ambassadors, his soldiers in a spiritual war that expands way beyond our three-dimensional existence. The spiritual realm is a battle ground to which we have been given an assignment – Stand.
This website is all about equipping, encouraging, and preparing us for battle in the war raging around us. Christianity is under attack both without and within the “church”. Truth is being made culturally sensitive, thereby rendering it anything but the truth. We must know what we believe and reflect the light of Christ even as the evil darkness tries to overtake. We must rebuild the wall with a sword in one hand and tools of truth in the other. Join us in this mission.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
